CNN.com - Study: CD piracy trade tops $4.5 billion - Jul 22, 2004

Piracy will never eliminated but if the labels would stop charging such high prices they might put a dent into it. I know I buy less because the prices are so high.

The world's first RFID hacking tool released at Black Hat

Tom's Hardware Guide: Tom's Hard News

The potential for abuse with these things is amazing. I've been hoping someone would come up with a way to zap them...guess what? They did.

Number of teens listening to radio is plummeting

Vancouver

Interesting story but it's not the entire story. The plain fact is that radio stinks anymore. The take over by the large corporations and the fact that no matter where you go in the country you will hear the same old songs over and over makes it worse. Gone are the days of hearing something new. Playlists are all based upon focus groups and by the marketing department. Thank goodness for sites like http://www.live365.com where you can choose to hear something different.

Real shoots back at Apple, reaffirms commitment to Harmony

Real shoots back at Apple, reaffirms commitment to Harmony

I understand Apple trying to protect their interests but this is the same reason they don't control the PC market. By refusing to let other's make compatible products they are going to get killed by Rio and all the other portable audio manufacturers out there. In 2 or 3 years the sales for Ipods will be anemic in my opinion. Guess they didn't learn from the early PC years.

Bad move Apple.

Football season!

Football season! It's almost here!!! Last night I participated in a live draft for one of the fantasy leagues that I'm in. That was strange but fun. I made some interesting picks but sometimes you just have to take a chance. Being in a fantasy league makes the season more interesting in my opinion. You tend to watch the stats and keep up on the details more than you normally would. Plus the internet has made it so easy now to play that there's no excuse not to.

CNN.com - Audit says military is buying deficient planes - Jul 24, 2004

Funny thing is that it was Congress that demanded the Air Force buy these planes. The Air Force did not ask for them. Pork barrel politics and the AF gets blamed for the outcome.

Temple Mount activist says blowing up Dome of Rock is “worthy act”

Maariv International

So it's not only Muslim fanatics trying to cause problems out there. Glad to know the Jewish fanatics want to get in on the action.

When will it ever end?

...U.S. Is Nation of Bystanders in War on Terrorism

This article hits things right on the head in my opinion. This nation as a whole is not actively engaged or involved in the fight against terror or the war in Iraq. Only the few that elect to serve and their families are affected by what is going on. The rest care more about what's on TV and their favourite team than the men and women getting maimed or killed. A sad commentary.

Minn. GOP Asks Activists to Report on Neighbors' Politics (washingtonpost.com)

Is this what our nation is coming to? Does anyone else have a problem with this? Reporting your neighbor's politically leanings? I fear for the future if it is.

Thinking of Belle

It's just been over a month since Belle died. How I miss that dog. Someone rang the yesterday and I immediately started to yell out her name so she wouldn't bark and realized that she wasn't there. For 6 years I put up with her barking at the doorbell or a knock on the door. I always tried to break her of it but with no luck. What I would give to hear that bark again.

BBC NEWS | World | Middle East | 'Nobody is going to live forever'

BBC NEWS | World | Middle East | 'Nobody is going to live forever'

This article just really strikes a nerve in me. There will be no peace in the middle east until we can stop this kind of thought process. But how do you do that? That a kid would fall for this, that his so called "friend" would prey on this kid and ask him to kill himself. If the cause is so just why isn't this "friend" doing it himself?

No easy answers to this one I'm afraid....
