Been a while since I've posted on the blog here. This shot is of Trumpeter Swans at the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary, across the Mississippi River from Alton.

On Break

Took part in the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk this last Saturday in Alton. These 4 workers were on their break and I had to capture it. A classic scene.

Took a nice walk at the Watershed Nature Center in Edwardsville this morning. The water drop on this leaf caught my eye. Thought the shot came out pretty well.

The wife and I took a drive up the Great River Road from Alton to Grafton yesterday. We stopped at the Loading Dock in Grafton for lunch. I really liked the contrast between the yellow chairs and the blue counter in the place.

Senior Airman Bradley R. Smith

Senior Airman Smith was killed in action in Afghanistan. He was awarded the Silver Star which was given to his family. The word hero is thrown about too much but in this case it is deserved. May he rest in peace.

Soaring

It was a busy weekend of shooting for me. Wasn't planning to go to the balloon festival in Centralia but I did Saturday with my son. Then today was the annual D.A.R.E. auto show in Edwardsville. Couldn't pass up taking a shot of this hood ornament. I quite liked the way the colors are reflecting off of it.

The hummingbirds are going crazy right now. From what I have read they are starting to migrate.

Went to the local park in Troy Sunday looking for squirrels to photography. As I wandering around I spotted some exposed tree roots. I love the twists and turns so I took a few shots. They look better in b&w.

Haven't had much luck with hummingbirds this year until the last couple of days. Suddenly they've appeared and are quite hungry. This little one was buzzing around my head, and almost landed on the lens hood. But then she headed over to the feeder and I was able to get this shot off.

Four of us from the photo club took a trip to East St. Louis Sunday morning to take some photos. So sad to see these old buildings in such decay. This was a grand city at one time.

There was a great photo walk here in St. Louis yesterday. I met a lot of great photographers and had fun on the Delmar Loop. This shot is of "Albert Hall".

O'Fallon Grand Prix

The O'Fallon Grand Prix finishes up today. I didn't get down there Friday or Saturday but Ian and I made it down this morning. Today was the Criterium races throughout the downtown area. It was a lot of fun watching the riders.
