After Six Decades as the U.S. Military's Gateway to Europe, Rhein-Main Base Closing

We spent 4 years at Rhein Main, October 1993 - October 1997. That was probably the busiest 4 years of my Air Force career. So much happened while I was there. It saddens me to know that end is so close now. I was part of the original AMC transition team when it was finally announced that it would completely close. I was able to travel back over there 4 times before moving on to another job in the headquarters. So much history was made there and I feel pride in knowning that I was part of it. Rhein Main will be missed and things will never be quite the same knowing it's gone.
